Love feast in FECA Nigeria is a program that FECAites acknowledge as a way of sharing affection to one another through giving of gifts, cards, food, clothes, material things and also, money. It is in love feast that FECAites share love. And love is shown most times, in giving. For God is love, so he gave his Son, Jesus Christ to the world and Jesus gave himself up on the Cross of Calvary for men to be saved. Men can now access the throne of God with boldness because of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross. This is shown in the scripture, "let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
The doings on the day of love feast is very spectacular because love feast has been characterized recently as a day whereby the Chapter would cook, prepare all sorts of dishes and invite people from everywhere to come and eat. There is nothing wrong with that. But the only part where everything would be wrong is when after eating all the food, people are not preached to on the same day - even as they are eating their food. Worse of it all is when there is no altar call. People have to give their lives to Christ on love feast day. This is good and acceptable before the one that sent us as Christians. Therefore, love feast goes beyond the rice and stew, and chim-chim and zobo and meat-pie. Love feast encompasses sharing the word of God to the friends that were invited to fellowship, and leading them to Christ. According to the National leaders, everyone that comes to fellowship should be lead to Christ immediately because it is the First level of Discipleship that the National President, Mr. Edem Samuel (2020-2022 tenure) taught FECAites.
Recall that in the concluded national Leadership Retreat, Abia 2022, the National president emphasized on the need to adhere to the three tiers of discipleship that has been The Spirit of FECA since the last quarter of 2021.
