The Federation of Colleges Ex-Students Christian Association has released a new focus for the next year which will be based on Discipleship. Acco. rding to the report, the next one year that is left in the 2020-2022 tenure is going to see a massive wave of discipleship across the nation. Because discipleship replicates you in others. Discipleship is the intentional approach to build, grow, and establish men to be with the spirit of FECA. This means that as long as FECA is concerned, outreaches remain the core of the vision and you cannot do outreaches without strengthening it with discipleship. Thus it is important to take note of this fact, because it is a instruction from the National leaders of FECA Nigeria (2020-2022 tenure). According to the media post from FECA Nigeria Facebook page, FECAites are enjoined to be intentional about discipleship henceforth.
"In the one year left in this tenure, intentionally grow and establish men through all levels of discipleship and while at it, always remember to keep the vision burning", it states in her social media handle.
The theme is "The Spirit of FECA", and the scriptures earmarked for guidance in the mission are 2 Timothy 2: 1-2 and Acts 20: 22-30. Here, young
FECAites are told that there is a responsibility to preserve the future and it begins with discipleship, because growing men at a time like this is of utmost importance. Thus speaking, it is established that the next phase of FECA Nigeria will focus on an intentional approach to grow men.
"This is because in the discipleship of one man, there is the preservation of four generations".
Explanations on The Spirit of FECA
The
first level discipleship focuses on making the first timer or the
fresher one that is baptized with the Holy Ghost. In this level, prayer is the number one key that sets the whole ball in motion. Here, you don't assume that the person is a believer or that the person already speaks in tongues, no. You as a leader in FECA have to ensure that that person at that spot gives his life to Christ and is baptized in the Holy Ghost. And he should be able to manifest the gifts of the Holy Ghost like meekness, joy, peace, endurance, patience, and the rest of them.
The medium level discipleship is where the first level disciple is being trained to become a quality leader who is capable to carrying out responsibilities. He is at this point able to to be reckoned as having quality because he should show forth the features of a quality leader such as courage, ability to take responsibility, etc. In this level too, he must be trained to know that he must be punctual to fellowship meetings, he must be available for God in the things of God, he must take bible study seriously (both personal and corporate), and he must be one who is slow to speak but quick to listen. This level of discipleship sees to it that the men are now passionate for the things of God such as outreaches, reaching out to old members, visiting of new members and old members too, calling of people, etc. This level sees to it that the disciples are now highly obedient servants and they are now the ones who are baptizing the others in the Holy Ghost.
The higher level discipleship is the level of discipleship that deals with succession. Here, the individual who has been rooted and grounded in truth through the two levels above, is now being given responsibilities in the form of delegations and he is trusted enough to deliver. This is where he starts doing the things that his teacher does and he does them accurately. This is where men are now ready to take on the baton of leadership that would be handed over to them in the next house. because the next house will comprise of all those who have being trained for the task ahead and who have gone through the first two levels of discipleship.
