Being led by the Spirit of God, these girls began to pray fervently for revival in the land and their prayers were answered. Upon leaving school in the year 1990, the group of ten students corresponded to each other by means of letters to encourage one another in the faith and in maintaining the high standards of integrity and righteousness. They also kept correspondence with other students of integrity who lived outside of Calabar. The letter writing soon evolved into weekly meetings. (During the National convention that held in the year 2014, Mummy Folashade told how on the day of their leadership selection that is, the day when they decided to have leaders in FECA, for the first time, that they all prayed and were led by the Holy Spirit in that after they finished writing the names of the persons who are to fill each office, there was no duplication of names. That is to say, they all filled the names with divine direction and not one person's name came out twice. All individuals got the precise office ordained for her. And to the glory of God, Mummy Shade was the first National Financial Secretary of FECA Nigeria.)  Some other groups from Port Harcourt and Benin City with identical meetings aligned themselves fully for the vision as soon as they heard about the group in Calabar. Meetings also began in Enugu, Lagos, and Akure as other ex-students of various Colleges became aware of the initiative.

The name, Federal Ex-Students' Christian Association was officially inaugurated in the year 1991 with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, (CAC). Later, the association was renamed to Federation of Colleges Ex-Students' Christian Association (FECA). The association has continued to spread ever since then into many cities and streets in Nigeria with over 130 chapters. As of the year 2022, during the General Congress held in National Leadership Retreat in Abia Zone, FECA Nigeria has about 152 chapters spread across Nigeria. The zones and the number of chapters  in each of the chapters are listed below (this page is subject to  regular updates and because we are in 2023, the number of chapters have increased beyond what is written here):

FECA Nigeria's  doctrine is firmly rooted in the Holy Bible and her membership is spread and open to anyone, especially ex-students of secondary schools and Colleges, including students of university education.

FECA Nigeria's  vision is not only "To redeem the desolation of our land and generation," the vision is in three parts. The first part and the major part of the vision is to unite and follow up born again Christian youths; ex-students of Federal Government Colleges and other private and State schools (Universities, Polytechnics, and Vocational Training Schools) in Nigeria. The second part of the Vision is to encourage in the faith those still in schools, reach out to those not yet saved, and to other youths in general all over the country, and the third part of the vision is that it is all aimed at redeeming the desolation of our land and generation.

 Vision of FECA (Unambiguous) 

 The motto of FECA is, "Keep the Vision Burning". By this, it is expected for every member of the association to walk with courage and commitment within FECA chapters and to raise men with character, excellence and accountable spirits who are consistent with the vision and ultimately moving beyond the chapter walls into the larger society for redemption purposes.

FECA Nigeria currently has four basic levels, namely, 

 - The national level

 - The regional level

 - The zonal level

 - The Chapter level

It should be noted that there is also the presence of Cells which is the smallest unit of members who reside in a particular vicinity.
