About Dr. Edak Ezeanosike and the birth of FECA

Dr. Edak is a lecturer at the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. She is a consultant ophthalmologist/ophthalmic Plastic surgeon/Ocular Oncologist at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

She attended Federal Government Girls College, Calabar and while in the school, she gave her life to Christ  under the ministration of a young lady who came to her school for the Moral Instruction period that was normally scheduled for one day a week (some schools have it on the Wednesdays). The day she gave her life to Christ helped in building her passion for God and love for mankind.

Dr. Edak and a group of her friends encountered lots of problems and troubles during their secondary school days. One prominent problem was the outright dwindling light of integrity and righteousness in the life of their senior students who just left the College. Many of their senior students who left College for tertiary education started leading wayward lives and they were unashamed about it.

Young Edak decided, along with some of her friends, that if they should leave the matter that way, it would definitely catch  up with them and swallow them. It might happen to them also. So, with prayers and focused efforts, they decided to seek the face of God. The nine of them were:
 - Edak Isangedighi
 - Emem Ebiefie
 - Emoefe Okupe
 - Folashade Ogundeji
 - Nse Williams
 - Grace Abakasanga
 - Mildfred Ephraim
 - Funke Allen
 - Patricia Babie

They all kept in touch with  each other and sometimes they met at one another's house and fellowship together, upon graduation, which saw most of them went to different  cities and states in Nigeria. But they sent letters to one another just the way St. Paul sent letters to the Churches in order to check on them and build their faith in the Lord.

The day Dr. Edak and her friends wanted to choose their first set of leadership house, they prayed fervently about the offices and it happened that after they wrote down the names of the offices and the office holders, there was not a single repetition of office nor a repetition of any office holder. In other words, each person was directed by the Holy Spirit to write a particular name for a particular office and there was not a single repetition.

Dr. Edak became the first national president of FECA and she has sacrificed more than what many of the new generation of FECAites has ever sacrificed because when one is starting a new venture, there are plenty of sacrifices to pay compared to when the venture is grown. Some of the key men that God brought into the way of Dr. Edak and her friends in the beginning days of FECA are men like Pastor Ezekiel Atang, Papa Deolu Ogunnubi and many others.  These men have always been in FECA national conventions and their stories are so inspiring. They have paid many prices and have labored greatly. One of the national conventions that aids the telling of this very story was the 2014 national convention, titled "Exceeding Grace".

In the 2014 national convention, Pastor Ezekiel Atang spoke to the congregation about the early days of FECA and how they (the ladies) had to make him their spokesperson. It was a challenge to him but he embraced it and see where it has brought him today.
