Conventions are events that mark the gathering of a large number of people who share the same faith, belief or goal. From the definition of a dictionary, convention means "a large meeting of the members of a profession, a political party, etc". It is synonymous with the word Conference. 

Over the years, there have been many conventions in FECA Nigeria. I joined FECA in the year 2014, but FECA fellowship started since the 1990s, so there have been a lot of Conventions in the past. See some here.

In this article, I am going to be talking about the features of FECA Nigeria conventions, under the following headings:

Intimate Worship

This is a feature of FECA Nigeria convention that is also seen in many other places. Worship here entails that lifting up of holy hands in praise, hymns and spiritual songs, making melodies to God. It is an indispensable aspect of every Christian gathering.

School of the Spirit

The school of the Spirit is another feature of FECA Nigeria convention. This is a shool of prayer. It is a school of young vibrant men and women who intervene for FECA in the place of prayer. From my personal experience, it is a school that welcomes new members and people are very happy to join because most of the times, when people come for convention, they know that they are there to pray and to seek God's face, not to eat or sleep or reunite with new people or anything...but to pray. That is one of the ways to make the most of convention:pray. So the school of the Spirit gives then that opportunity to pray so that when the Word is coming, they will have more insight.

Seasoned teachings

The teachers who come to FECA Nigeria National Conventions are not mere men, they are seasoned men and women of God. They are deeply rooted in the Word and they can dissect the word just as Paul says in Timothy: "...rightly dividing the word of truth". Many of them are FOSM members, friends of FECA, some are former national leaders who have opened their own ministries, some are also Pastors in other denominations. Examples are pastor Ezekiel Atang, pastor Gift Esosa, pastor David Ogbueli, etc.

Strategic breakthrough sessions

There are many sessions during FECA Nigeria Conventions, and one of them is the strategic breakout session where you see great men and women of God speak to FECAites. This session also involves deliverance, and breakthrough moments. Besides, there are also, sessions that involves skill acquisition ( and these are divided into classes, they have the graphic designing class, the coding class, marketing, photography, content writing, pastries, video making, networking, and lots more). Freshers Celebration

This is one of the most interesting session in FECA National Conventions because freshers from all the zones and regions would gather and entertain the crowd with different forms of ministrations such as spoken words, drama, dance, news forecast in different languages,  and so on. It is always fun. These freshers would also be prayed for by the leaders. 

FOSM Sessions

This is the senior members forum. This is the forum of all graduates, working class men and women, and basically, all FECAites who have graduated. The Constitution of FECA clearly states what and what makes someone a FOSM member. 

During Conventions, there is usually a time when FOSM members gather to discuss salient points that needs attention as pertaining to FECA Nigeria. I have been to one of their meetings before, so I have little clue what they do talk about. I have been to one FOSM meeting where I sat at the rear of the hall as a Fresher in 2014 National Convention themed "Exceeding Grace", and what I saw them discuss was fund, dues and then someone preached. 

Eccentric Praise Sessions

In FECA, praises come in different dimensions because the different regions and tribes in Nigeria are represented. So there is variety. When you see a manner of praise from a Yoruba man, you will be inspired to praise more. When you see a manner of praise from an Efik or Calabar man, the thing will do you. No dull moments at all.

Heartfelt Prayers

In FECA Nigeria, there is what we are known for, and that one thing is prayer. FECA Prays is the single session that brings out the giant in every FECAite because prayers are made for over six hours in a stretch. See some of the features of FECA prays here. 

Variety Night

Variety night is one of the most interesting nights in FECA National Conventions. This is one of the sessions that I like so much because the session takes you by surprise and the different performances that FECAites display can be very amazing. Just imagine all those things they do in America Got talent. It thrills, and makes the crowd go crazy! I love variety nights!

Election and announcement of new National leaders

FECA National convention has as one of its core aims, the election of new national leaders who would pioneer the wok of the vision for the next two years.
