What is the meaning of FECA FOSM ?

FECA means Federation of Colleges Ex-Students' Christian Association and it was founded in the late twentieth century by a group of young girls at Federal Government Girl College, Calabar.

Over the years, FECA has grown mightily with many chapters and cells all over the nation. One of these chapters is FECA Nsukka chapter because it is located inside the University of Nigeria campus environment. This chapter has been in existence since 1998 and has produced many outstanding men and women of caliber in the university environment and beyond. Some of them are in different countries of the world and they still reach out to the younger generation of FECAites through the social media and internet. The same thing applies in other chapters all over the nation.

These people are called Senior Members in FECA Nigeria. So, FECA FOSM is an abbreviated form for, FECA Forum of Senior Members, and it is pronounced as FOS (with the 'M' being silent). These are men and women who are either graduates, married, captains of industries or working class citizens.

Some of the duties of the FOSM include but are not limited to the following:

1. To create awareness of the vision of FECA.

2. To foster unity among her members.

3. To support and encourage FECA in all her activities like regional conventions, national conventions, spread, save generation next, Freshers Banquet, and so on. They can do this financially, prayerfully, morally supporting the chapters, and also spiritually supporting the programs.

4. FOSM act as an advisory board to their chapters and zone.

5. FOSM disseminate information to their members as frequently as possible so as to create more awareness of events/happenings in their chapters and zones and also the needs that are to be met.

6. FOSM also holds quarterly meetings or as otherwise agreed by the members.

In Nsukka chapter, there are about 5 different branches to connect with the FOSM members. These are:

- Nsukka Branch

- Enugu Branch

- Lagos Branch

- Abuja Branch and

- Port Harcourt Branch
