  • One of the newest chapters in the Eastern Region of the Federation of Colleges Ex-Students' Christian Association (FECA) Nigeria, FECA Light Chapter, successfully hosted its inaugural Freshers Banquet in July 2022. Located at Dominion City Church, Behind Sophia Eatery, opposite Oko Micro Finance Bank, Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State, this milestone event marked the chapter's bold entry into FECA's transformative youth programs.

As one of the recently inaugurated chapters under Eastern Regional oversight, FECA Light Chapter seized this opportunity to fulfill its mandate of welcoming fresh secondary school graduates—post-WAEC/NECO achievers navigating JAMB uncertainties—into the fellowship family. The Freshers Banquet, a signature FECA program, serves as both celebration and strategic orientation, equipping these "freshers" with spiritual foundation, career guidance, and campus survival skills before their tertiary institution journeys.

Esteemed Guest Speaker: Eastern Regional Coordinator

The program promised—and delivered—spiritual and practical impact, featuring Mr. Nlemedim Stephen, Eastern Regional Coordinator (2018-2020 tenure), as the keynote speaker. Renowned for his dynamic preaching and administrative prowess, Nlemedim's charge aligned perfectly with FECA's motto, "Keep The Vision Burning." His message covered purpose discovery, godly excellence amid academic pressures, and avoiding campus pitfalls like cultism and illicit relationships—core Freshers Banquet themes.

    Significance for FECA Light Chapter

This event established FECA Light Chapter's commitment to the federation's generational mandate. Hosted at Federal Polytechnic Oko—a prime target for FECA campus evangelism—the Banquet drew freshers from surrounding communities, potential UNN/UNIZIK admits, and local secondary schools. Beyond the spiritual sessions (word ministration, prayers, worship), attendees enjoyed classic Banquet features: interactive talk sessions on relationships/money management, talent hunts, drama skits, popcorn stations, and the elegant banquet proper with awards for academic excellence.

    Broader Eastern Regional Context

FECA Light chapter joins a growing network of recently inaugurated Eastern chapters responding to Nigeria's expanding tertiary landscape. The Eastern Region hosts dynamic chapters like FECA Enugu, Abia, and Calabar, each replicating proven programs amid ASUU strikes and admission backlogs. Regional Coordinator Nlemedim Stephen's presence underscored the decentralized leadership model empowering new chapters while maintaining doctrinal unity.

    Legacy Impact

July 2022's Freshers Banquet planted vision-seeds destined to yield chapter executives, zonal leaders, and future national figures. Many 2022 freshers now anchor FECA Light's 2026 programs, completing the fellowship's discipleship cycle.
