'Recent news from Texas, according to Forbes, stated that at least 80 deaths—including the deaths of 28 children—have now been confirmed in the central Texas flash floods, according to the latest update from officials, though at least 10 children from a summer camp remain unaccounted for as rescuers continued their search for survivors.' -Forbes News.

Central Texas is reeling from catastrophic flash floods that struck early on July 4, 2025, along the Guadalupe River, claiming the lives of at least 51 people, including 15 children. BBC reported that the worst-hit area is Kerr County, where 43 fatalities have been confirmed, and 27 girls remain missing from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp located on the riverbank.

The flooding was triggered by an intense downpour, with rain falling up to 11 inches in just a few hours, causing the Guadalupe River to surge nearly 29 feet in some locations within an hour. Many victims were asleep when the floodwaters rapidly inundated mobile homes, campsites, and residential areas.

Rescue teams have been up and doing in search of bodies of survivors and recover bodies. Approximately 850 people have been rescued so far, with helicopters and swift water rescue teams deployed. Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a disaster and vowed to continue search and rescue efforts until every person is accounted for.

Authorities warn that more rain and flooding may be imminent, complicating rescue operations. Families of missing campers have been sharing photos and pleading for information, while the community mourns the tragic loss.
