About Madam Marriot

She is one of the oldest members of FECA Nigeria. This is because she joined FECA in the year 1995, and it was not just any FECA chapter, it was the very first chapter of FECA Nigeria. I am talking about FECA Calabar chapter. She attended Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Calabar, which was where FECA first began. She later relocated to Zaria, She served as FCN Coordinator there in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and thereafter she was made the Northern Regional Secretary of FECA Nigeria. She later became the National Financial Secretary of FECA Nigeria, and I think she is the first National Financial secretary of FECA Nigeria. By profession, she describes herself as an accidental teacher whose love and passion lies in agriculture, poultry and specifically the production aspect of poultry.

According to her, (in response to the question) she says that for all she had to do in FECA, she did  it with passion. When FECA came to my school, I had hope that it will not backslide, because I needed to be in a place that is not Church. I was not looking at the offices, I was not looking at who is president and who is not the president, I was just focused on serving God.

So I was handed over to, as the financial secretary. Someone told me that I didn’t keep proper record, that I needed to learn how to keep proper record of finances. So I learnt how to manage money, I learnt how to write, so that anyone that would audit me will not have issues with me. Because everything we do, we do unto God.

So if you mange something well, God will give you yours. FECA service helped me because we were passionate about the work that we were called to do. Example in our outreaches, we were able to produce good teachers today. I remember how that some parents would give us their children to teach, and talk them most of the time. We chat, on social media and it’s  helped me to know that I can understand young people’s minds very well. So I became a teacher but my passion is in agriculture. That is why I said I am an accidental teacher, because agriculture is what gives me joy, to plant something and watch it grow.
