The Nigerian music scene has been rocked by a heated and controversial feud between street-hop artist Portable and popular online activist and entertainer VeryDarkMan (VDM). The conflict escalated after Portable publicly accused VDM of using the tragic death of late singer Mohbad to chase clout and gain fame.

In response, VeryDarkMan  released a fiery diss track titled "Ole" — the Yoruba word for "thief." In the track, VDM mocked Portable over long-standing allegations of theft, including claims that the singer once stole a phone and a tricycle. To further drive his point, VDM resurfaced an old viral video from 2020 showing Portable allegedly being beaten up on the street in connection to the accusations. The diss track didn’t just focus on Portable; it also took aim at other public figures, such as Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and popular clergyman Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, sparking even more controversy across social media.

VDM’s diss tracks, delivered in multiple Nigerian languages, have gained traction online, with many praising his creativity and lyrical delivery. While some fans commend the entertainment value and boldness of the tracks, others have called for restraint, urging him to forgive and avoid escalating the issue further. VDM has since hinted at releasing more diss tracks targeting other artists and public figures.

Portable, known for his unpredictable and outspoken persona, fired back with a series of diss tracks of his own. In his responses, Portable denied the theft allegations and lashed out at VDM with personal insults, particularly targeting his financial status and credibility. In a controversial move, Portable reportedly leaked intimate and potentially damaging videos allegedly involving VDM — a tactic many have condemned as unethical and inflammatory.

The feud took a more serious turn when Portable filed a petition with the Nigerian Police, accusing VDM of cyberbullying and character assassination. The back-and-forth has since divided fans and sparked intense debate across social platforms.

While some observers have described the exchange as one of the most entertaining and hilarious  diss battles in recent Nigerian music history, others are warning that the conflict could lead to legal consequences if not resolved amicably. Many are calling on both parties to exercise caution, avoid defamation, and prioritize peace over publicity.
