2 Corinthians 4.7: If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us. (MSB)

Annie heard her Father beckoning on me... “Annie!” He called  “Yes, Father!”  “I have a gift for you.” He said smiling as Annie raced towards him in joy. She wondered what her father wanted to give her. He took her by the hand and showed her three clay pots turned upside down.“

Annie, your gift is under one of these pots, choose one." She looked at the three pots and tried hard to find out the one she was going to pick.  The first pot looked so beautiful, it had been decorated with chalk artistry. The second pot was plain. Whereas the third pot looked deformed and unappealing. Some parts of it were broken...  She did a little back-and-forth several times and she  decided that her Father would put her gift under the most beautiful pot. She knew her Father was a perfectionist, so the third pot was definitely not his thing. She moved to the first pot but quickly cast a glance at her father looking for answers on his face, but he kept a straight face.

“Father, I choose the first pot,” She said  “Are you sure?”  “Yes!”

Her father lifted the first pot and there laid a pretty little box. Annie jumped in excitement... She was so right. She knew her father so well...She took the gift and gave her father a big hug...He smiled and said...  “Well, the other pots had gifts as well, let’s check them out!”

“Really?” Annie said as her father lifted the second pot, it was the plain one. The gift was much bigger than the gift she had won from the pretty pot.  When her father lifted the third pot that was ugly looking, deformed and broken, Annie almost collapsed.... Five different gifts were hidden under the deformed pot... Annie looked at her father disappointed at her vanity, but her father raised her chin up and with a great smile he said...

“I hide my best treasures in unlikely vessels!”

And  just like Annie a whole lot of us have been placed in positions to make similar choices and we've judged and made our preferences based on looks nothing wanting to know if there could be more beyond the look. I believe that this also was one of the reasons the Pharisees and the teachers of the law found it difficult to believe on Jesus as the Christ, they already had a perfect description of who they wanted to be the Christ.

I bet they never expected He'd come from a regular family, they probably expected royalty,a well polished and groomed up man but a Man who the Bible describes as having no comeliness nor form,a Man that when He's seen there's no beauty in Him that we should desire Him, that Man shows up and in Him is deposited the power to save the entire World.

It's a blessing that we must know that just like that unadorned clay pot we also carry in us a lot of potential and if they were placed in perfect clay pots the enemy probably would have seen it and gone for it right from the start, imagine if Jesus wasn't born in a manger instead in a hospital. Herod would have easily located them and killed Him but glory to God that didn't happen.

We carry potentials in this broken nature of sin because the world has to see God exalted,God hides His best in unlikely vessels and He does this that all men should fear Him.

Are you broken and dismayed? Don't think less of yourself. God hides His best in unlikely vessels. Are perplexed and hard-pressed? He hides His treasures in unlikely vessels.

Are pressed down and crushed? Don't sorrow rather rejoice for when we are weak then His power in us is made strong.

Youd to have it all, having less is okay!

Abnormal is perfect, Broken is beautiful!

    Shaken is alright,Weird is unique!

Going through the list of men that God used in the scriptures, they were all unlikely vessels, unadorned but they were Unique not different. From Noah,a drunk. Moses,a murder. David,a farm boy. Daniel, a captive. Simon Peter,a Fisherman. Paul,a terrorist and a whole lot more.

They were unlikely vessels. We are all unlikely vessels to be used by God.
