Seventy times seventy is the number of times forgiveness should be given.
Forgiveness may not seem easy but it isn't impossible. If Jesus did it, so can we.
If he could look past all your flaws, shortcomings and sins through the eyes of mercy and still forgive you, then it's very unscriptural for you to hold a grudge against another with no intention of ever forgiving them.
The prodigal son was forgiven and accepted by his father. This is an instance of the display of God's huge heart.
God always leads by example and that is a reason why he can't fail.
He is a father that has shown us the benefits in forgiving others.
It is for our good as much for others. It saves us from the numerous heartaches attached to unforgiveness.
Forgive comes from within. It has to be a voluntary action. You must set in your heart that you are ready to let go of every resentment regardless of what has been done to you.
Forgiveness can never be overemphasized. It helps us live freely both psychologically, and spiritually.
King David himself was well acquainted with sin's consequences as seen in Psalm 32:3-4. Which was why he always sought forgiveness for every offence. This act of remorse earned him a place as the man after God's heart.
If God could forgive David's numerous sins, how much more you.
However, it's a general knowledge that forgiving another is easier than forgiving oneself. Jesus died so we can live.
He was made dirty so we can be made pure.
It doesn't matter what you think you've done, you are Worthy of being forgiven. All you have to do is ask God to show you what he is seeing concerning you and what he knows about you. Then, you conform to that reflection of you through God's eyes.
He thinks thoughts of good and not of evil concerning you. So you should embrace his thoughts of you and make it a part of you.
A question posed by people at one point or the other is ; Whether or not forgiveness is forgetting?
Forgiveness is definitely not forgetting. Sometimes,It's easier to forgive than it is to forget. Forgiveness is a thing of the heart while forgetting is a thing of the mind.
It takes time to forget some things;the mind is a fragile vessel.
Undoubtedly, it has been recorded in heaven that your forgiveness is genuine and comes from the depth of your heart. So, forgetting is only a matter of time.
However, you can't say you have completely forgotten about an issue that hurt you terribly. But, your subconscious will know not to always bring it up so it doesn't hurt as much anymore.
Remember, time is all you need to heal your heartache.
