SGN which simply means Save Generation Next, is an annual program in FECA Nigeria which is held every May. The reason why it holds in the month of May is what we are going to ne lookong into in this post.

Amongst all other things, like the programs for the year and all, one of the core reasons why SGN holds in the month of May in FECA Nigeria is because the month of May is the month where Children's Day (27th May) falls in. Children's Day falls annually on the 27th of May. There is no better month in which SGN can hold other than in the month of May because immediately after SGN in the month of May, there is usually Freshers Banquet. Freshers Banquet is a big program in FECA and it requires a lot of preparation. 

Why can't another month be used for SGN?

SGN is always targeted to the Children and that is basically because children are the next generation of leaders. We were once children; everyone was once a child, both the President of a nation today, the engineer, the pilot, the teacher, and all the captains of industries today. They were once children. And seeing that the month of May is used to celebrate children, it's just best to celebrate SGN in May. 

How many days is Save Generation Next in FECA Nigeria?

Save Generation Next usually spans for a period of one week. The week that SGN falls in is usually in the week  that Children's Day is being celebrated. For instance, 2022 SGN was celebrated from the 22nd to the 29th of May and Children's Day is usually on the 27th of May. The theme of the 2022 Save Generation Next in FECA Nigeria was "I am Chosen".

The previous year, which was 2021, Save Generation Next's theme was "God's Heritage ", taken from Psalm 127:3-4. 

In the year 2024, Save Generation Next held from 26th May to 1st June 2024, with the theme, "Stars".  Here are some of the gifts FECAites give during this program .

What are the features of Save Generation Next in Federation of Colleges Ex-Student's Christian Association?

The following are a few of the features of SGN:

• The Word


• Singing


• Dancing


• Display of placards (with written motivational words in accordance to the theme of the year)


• Giving of gifts to the pupils


• Giving of gifts to the school


• Bible quiz


• Taking of pictures (Ah, that one is sure!)


• Mentorig and counseling to some of the young ones


• Educative sessions and so on.
