My FECA Story by Agbo Ebube Edith

I joined FECA officially in 2018, but I've always known about FECA through my brother, who joined around 2014. I heard about it from him and his FECAite friends who visited—they were young, vibrant, and not boring at all. I especially admired how FECA Jewels dressed in corporate attire, so I wanted to join and dress like them too. I was in SS1 then and couldn't attend fellowship from home.
My first FECA program was Praise Capade in 2014, when my brother invited us, promising food, drinks, rap, and fun. I expected entertainment right away, but after speeches and praise and worship, I enjoyed it all, including the Gala and Happy Hour they loved back then. That motivated me to study hard, finish secondary school, gain admission, and become a FECAite.
In SS3, FECAites visited St. Cyprian's for Freshers Banquet, and I attended but didn't want to leave afterward—I even cried since I hadn't told my mum. They suggested I stay in the Jewels' hostel with Ma Ugomma (nee Onwuchekwa), but I went home.
I love FECA so much. I didn't get admission in 2016 but joined in 2017 after gaining entry. On my first fellowship day, they called me for testimony unexpectedly—my brother was watching, so I spoke despite shyness, even returning to add more. I admired FECAites' passion for God, their effortless service, visits, and time for others.
In my first year, I wore slippers but soon hustled for flat shoes and corporate wear to fit in. I wanted to serve and grow like them. Grateful for FECA's service opportunities—no one forced me; I served as Financial Secretary in the 2018-2020 tenure despite knowing little. At my interview, I didn't know what role or unit (Ushering), but I just wanted to serve.
FECA service molds you. People were shocked Prayo (Miracle Edwin), a first-year, was so wise— that's FECA leadership's impact. After my tenure, I wanted to serve again because it's rewarding. FECA helped me grow; Mamae Joy Agbo encouraged me regularly with early attendance and she taught me much.
FECA gifted me lifelong friends like Samuel Nzoputa, Mamae Joy Agbo, Tochukwu Tagbo, Papae Victor, Kosi Adaba, and Mamae Mawuli. Senior members stay connected—that's our bond. It's about what you make of FECA: be intentional, sensitive, observant, and learn.
FECA offers a strong family bond. It transformed me—I wasn't always like this. Serious FECAites stand out, unique and distinguished in class or anywhere. You carry an aura; people sense your responsibility and knowledge. FECA teaches talking, dressing, God's word, boldness, and intimidation-proof confidence—if you're intentional.
FECA teaches responsibility, balancing fellowship and school, giving and sacrificing with little, even toughening last-borns like me. If I can do it, you can. Thanks to FECA's founders and keepers—without it, I'd be lost. It's God's gift: treasure invitations, visits, and calls. Leaders won't always be here—learn responsibility now.
While young and vibrant in UNN, grasp FECA fully. Post-graduation, attendance may drop, so maximize this time.
