There's a transfer saga heating up in 2025—Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian goal-machine, is at the center of the most talked-about moves in Europe.
According to Reuters news on the matter, Osimhen has completed a record-breaking €75 million transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray, making him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history. He signed a 4-year contract with a net salary of €15 million annually, plus bonuses and image rights. Napoli will also receive 10% of any future transfer profit.
TalkSPORT news reports that earlier that Osimhen was expected to move to a Premier League club, with teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal showing interest. However, those moves never materialized. Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s massive offer of £650k/week was reportedly rejected, with the striker preferring to stay in Europe.
Speculation of a High-Profile Swap
LiverpoolOffside’s post reports about a sensational player-swap deal (Osimhen for Nunez/Chiesa) made waves, although such swaps are extremely rare.
Why This Matters? Well, the €75 million fee underscores Osimhen’s global value and ambition. Rejecting the Saudi offer shows he values sporting progress over instant cash. Staying in Europe keeps him front-and-center on the global stage.
