MTN Nigeria, in collaboration with Ultima Studios, has officially launched the “Next Afrobeats Star” competition, a nationwide talent search designed to elevate emerging Afrobeats artists onto the global stage. The initiative features a grand prize of $100,000 and includes structured audition phases, mentorship programs, and access to leading industry figures such as Sarz, P.Priime, Andre Vibez, and Puffy Tee.
Unveiled at a media event in Lagos, the competition emphasizes inclusivity, targeting solo performers from diverse backgrounds across Nigeria. Contestants will participate in both digital and live auditions, with the process aimed at discovering and nurturing sustainable music careers in urban and rural communities alike. A nominal registration fee of N300 ensures accessibility to grassroots talent.
MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer highlighted that the competition transcends a typical talent show—it represents a strategic effort to cultivate a new generation of Afrobeats ambassadors capable of advancing Nigerian music on the world stage. This initiative also underscores the role of corporate investment in strengthening the infrastructure of Nigeria’s music industry.
