Lookman Strikes Atleti into Semi-Final in Champions League

    Ademola Lookman delivered a decisive strike as Atlético Madrid edged past FC Barcelona 1-2 on the night but advanced 3-2 on aggregate to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.



    In a tense quarter-final second leg at the Metropolitano Stadium, the Nigerian forward struck in the 31st minute to restore Atlético's advantage in the tie. With Barcelona pushing for a comeback after trailing 2-0 from the first leg, Lookman pounced on a precise square ball from Marcos Llorente, drilling a low, powerful first-time finish past the goalkeeper to make it 1-2 on the night and 3-2 overall.



    The goal proved crucial. Despite Barcelona's spirited response—including a goal from Lamine Yamal and a late red card to Eric García—the visitors could not overturn the deficit. Lookman's clinical finish kept Diego Simeone's side firmly on course, sending them through to the last four of Europe's premier club competition for the first time in several seasons.



    Lookman, who has hit the ground running since arriving at Atlético, showcased composure and sharp movement inside the box. His strike not only silenced the traveling Barcelona support but also highlighted his growing influence in big matches. Post-match, the 28-year-old expressed delight at reaching the semi-finals, praising his team's disciplined performance under pressure.



    Atlético Madrid now turn their attention to the semi-final draw, while Barcelona's Champions League campaign ends in frustration despite a valiant second-leg effort. The Nigerian international's moment of magic will be remembered as the goal that proved the difference in a fiercely contested tie.
