She is someone who has dedicated most of her life to community development, especially in the area of women's education, mentorship, and women empowerment. She has over twenty years experience in this pursuit. She has been of immense help in this sector. 

Another things that I discovered about her is that she is the founder of a Alvana's Legacy for Africa (ALFA). This is a Non Governmental Organization which serves as a platform for the creation and enhancement of gender equality schemes, safe education for women,  and the creation of support and mentorship for women. The aim is to help African women all over the world gain resilience and deal with the socio-cultural hurdles that women face on a daily basis.  

According to a press release from the United States Embassy in Nigeria, describing Ugochi West, the report states that she works as a Senior Executive Assistant at Zenith Bank Plc. She is totally commited to eradicating sociocultural biases and hindrances facing African women. The Appalachian State University describes her as someone who believes that "one day Africa will be a continent of hop, where gender violence and stereotypes are eliminated, equal opportunities abound, and all genders live with dignity and self-worth."

But among all these discoveries, the sweeties part is the fact that she is a FECAite! She has served as  a Chapter President (yet to find out which chapter), she has also served as a Zonal and as a Regional Secretary during the 2008-2010 tenure. Her tenure was the tenure that hosted the  "Kingdom Influence" Regional Convention in Rivers Zone. And the most interesting part is that she has served as the National Vice President of FECA Nigeria! That was during the 2010-2012 tenure.

 Where was I that time? Secondary school, JSS 1 at Government College, Umuahia.

And speaking about Umuahia, Ugochi Shirley West attended Federal Government Girls College, Umuahia, then later went to study Microbiology at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. She also studied Civic Leadership, Mandela Washington Fellowship at Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina, United States of America. 

Finally, she is happily married to Mr. Edwin Otu and they are blessed with children. (though I've not seen any of them shaa).
