How to Discern a Good Wife
Marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God, and finding the right spouse is crucial for a successful and fulfilling life together. Therefore, it is essential to discern carefully when choosing a wife. The Bible provides us with many examples of good wives, such as Ruth, Abigail, and the Proverbs 31 woman. These women possessed qualities that are still relevant and essential today.
Firstly, a good wife is someone who fears God. Proverbs 31:30 says, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." A woman who has a reverent fear of God will be a source of blessing to her husband and family. She will have a deep and abiding faith that will sustain her through difficult times and inspire her to live a life that honors God.
Secondly, a good wife is someone who is loyal and faithful. Proverbs 31:11-12 says, "The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." A wife who is loyal and faithful to her husband will strengthen their marriage and build a strong foundation of trust.
Thirdly, a good wife is someone who is hardworking and diligent. Proverbs 31:27 says, "She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." A wife who is hardworking and diligent will be an asset to her husband and family. She will manage the household well and use her talents and abilities to contribute to the family's well-being.
Fourthly, a good wife is someone who is kind and compassionate. Proverbs 31:20 says, "She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy." A wife who is kind and compassionate will bring joy and love into her home. She will be quick to help those in need and will show love and understanding to her husband and family.
Finally, a good wife is someone who is wise and discerning. Proverbs 31:26 says, "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." A wife who is wise and discerning will provide counsel and guidance to her husband and family. She will use her knowledge and understanding to make wise decisions and lead her family in the right direction.
In conclusion, brothers, when looking for a good wife, seek someone who fears God, is loyal and faithful, hardworking and diligent, kind and compassionate, and wise and discerning.
