PSV Eindhoven have been crowned champions of the Dutch Eredivisie for the 2024/25 season, securing their 26th league title after a dramatic final day that saw rivals Ajax collapse in the closing weeks of the campaign.

The Eindhoven side sealed the title with a commanding 3-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. Ivan Perisic opened the scoring for PSV, but Sparta briefly equalized early in the second half. PSV quickly regained control, with Luuk de Jong and Malik Tillman adding goals to ensure the win and spark celebrations among their fans.

PSV’s path to the title was far from straightforward. Earlier in the season, Ajax appeared destined for the championship, holding a nine-point lead with just seven matches remaining. However, a series of poor results including defeats to FC Utrecht and NEC Nijmegen, and late draws against Sparta Rotterdam and FC Groningen-allowed PSV to overtake them in the standings.

Under manager Peter Bosz, PSV showed remarkable resilience, winning nine of their final ten league matches and finishing the season with over 100 goals scored. Eight different players netted at least eight goals, highlighting the team’s attacking depth. Luuk de Jong led the way with 13 goals, followed by Noa Lang, Ricardo Pepi, and Malik Tillman, each contributing significantly to the club’s success.

This back-to-back title win marks PSV’s 13th league championship of the century, further cementing their status as one of Dutch football’s most successful clubs
