About Mrs Ibuku Adebukola Ogunnubi
She is a very gentle and soft woman (at least for the time when she spoke to us during the national convention in Lagos 2022. That was my observation). When she joined FECA, she was very active in FECA. She joined in the year 2000, in FECA FESTAC chapter. One striking thing about Mrs Ogunnubi is that despite the fact that she did not handle any office in FECA FESTAC, her footprints are still felt in the chapter and beyond even till date. She is an engineer by profession and a lecturer in the University of Lagos (UNILAG). She is also the wife of Papa Dee.
During the Overcomers Convention of FECA Nigeria, that held in Lagos, there was a time when the senior members were asked questions in a panel and it was anchored by Papa Dee. So Papa Dee asked his wife the question: "How did FECA help you to help people meet a target"?
Well, um...where I work, I deal with engineers and my job is to lead people to achieve goals. That is because if I don’t do my job, you will not receive and make payments in the company.
FECA helped me in this because, I am able to encourage and drive people to meet their target in the company. I am the only woman in meetings most of the time in the company as an engineer and people tell me stuff because I am a woman. But I’m bold (with the Holy Ghost) to address stuff like that politely. So I look at the corporate structure of my company and I lead it back to the scripture. So imagine talking to people who are older than you but you must talk to them to do their jobs. That was what I learnt in FECA.
So in the process of leadership in FECA, you build relationship that will definitely help you later in life. So I learnt such in FECA. I left my field and I went to another field, but I still call my previous ‘guys’ for stuff and they tell me ‘No P’. So that’s what you learn in FECA leadership.
My husband’s contribution in making the first Constitution of FECA Nigeria means that FECA’s leadership is enough to build you in leading people towards a common goal.
