Onwuchekwa Ugomma: FECA and me
She is one of the prominent figures in FECA Nsukka because, just like may others, she has given her all to the course of the vision of FECA in the chapter. She served as the Prayer Secretary (2014 to 2016 tenure).
She is from Alayi, in Aba, Abia State and she attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Agric Science.
When asked about her FECA story, she said, "For me, FECA had always been what I desperately needed, because they were people that were different but did not mind being different. But FECA Nsukka held me by the hand and taught me all the things that I know today.
So I experienced God first hand in FECA! My FECA story revolves around people. They were people that did not mind my weirdness even when they could not relate to it; they were people that were so passionate about the things of God and have strong convictions about God. Watching them and learning from them, I became a better me...!"
In one of her famous poems, she writes about the friend that she is having an wishes to have forever. The poem reads thus:
To listen to the beats of my heart
To know the joy of my successes and achievements
To understand the agonies that come with failure, mistake, pressure and being misunderstood
To hear my heart's longings; the desires I dare not whisper aloud
To heal my heart when there is a tear
Who has found such a friend?
To sweetly rebuke, restore and not condemn
Surely there are times when everybody strays
Surely there are seasons when loneliness stares at you in the face
But somehow in despair you feel warm
A little glow just here and there
Just like rays of gold across the grey skies
Such beauty takes my breathe away
I know my heart as secretive as it could be
Hiding and covering as much as it could
From both loving an hateful eyes
Yet this same heart melts and uncovers all
Just with a whisper, the barest touch
All my weaknesses come crumbling down
The defenses are crushed and I become bare
Not with shame, not with guilt
My inadequacies matter no more
I forget every disgrace and every harsh times
As I stater at the beauty that lives inside of me!
I have found that forever friend
Really; I have found life's treasure!!
If you can find that treasure that is within you, not on your face,
Then, truly, you just found one of life's treasures
God lives in me !
I am not inadequate, I am not incomplete!
No guilty, no disgrace, no shame
I am beautiful!
