Ephraim Hosanna: My Experience in FECA
...I can't joke with FECA. The kind of love I have for FECA is the kind that I I would leave my house in the morning, because I had already left secondary school so I had a lot of free time. I was just waiting to r write JAMB the following year. I would leave my house in the morning, and go for so many FECA meetings and outreaches. They would give m e a responsibility to carry out and most of the times, I would leave my house early and come back home by 8 PM. Yet when I come back nobody will be angry at my late night arrival. And the next time, I would see myself very delighted that I did something. I find joy being active in FECA activities.
It helped me to learn God's word more for myself, and I was also building my prayer life. I could pray, sit down and study my Bible for hours -- what i could not do before! And it pays because I could kneel down and pray. In fact, my spiritual life was boosted!
As time passed, I was inducted into leadership. And it was the office that sees after souls, I have forgotten the name...yea the Outreach office. But I was assisting the main coordinator. But at a point, I had to leave because I needed to come back to Enugu State for my studies as a Freshman in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Some how, I was like, I can study this same Medicine in University of Calabar. I believe God has a purpose for everything. So I had to come back Enugu after much deliberations.
I had to leave FECA in Calabar because of studies. I was wondering how I could combine studies with all the FECA activities. Then there was a woman who told me something about her life experience in FECA when she was a student. I think she made a second class upper division upon graduation. She told me that she used to make first class in her results until she joined FECA then her GP started to come down. She told me that it was not FECA that caused it, that there was a joy in her when she was serving and the passion was also there. She said that even when she'd be having exams tomorrow, instead of reading her books, she would be reading the Bible. That was crazy, but it was what happened to me actually.
The passion was so much for FECA. I could not imagine myself missing one FECA weekly activity or a program . As I look back I felt like if I don't go for this program, somebody will die. That was like the highest level of passion I had which kept me. But due to school i Enugu, I had to come out from the leadership position that was given me.
When I came over here, I did not see FECA again. It was in Oji River, in Enugu. It was another issue totally for me. So I waited till I got admission to study Medicine in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the first thing that I did after admission was to look for FECA. I had to go to our WhatsApp group online to request for the directory.Sorry, it was the Facebook group rather. I asked someone, Edikan, who was serving in Calabar as at that time. I was so impatient to get the address of FECA Nsukka. Luckily for me, I browsed and found the address on a website...
All these happened because I know that what I got from these people in Calabar, must have sequel in Nsukka. There must be more. So I got the address on the website, and I was happy. I got Victor Chukwudi's number. He was the President that time. I called him. He was in National Leadership Retreat when I called him and then he called Lucky Ekwereonu and Lucky now gave me the address. That was how I rejoined with FECA again. I joined FECA Nsukka in 2018/2019 academic session. That time many people were in school. I saw you playing the keyboard. That was the first time I saw you. It has been awesome with FECA Nsukka.
There is no day that I would come to fellowship and regret it because me going to fellowship is me sacrificing something. That's it. Even though my timetable is so occupied, I still remove something to get something ~FECA. I have always been happy for it. I am grateful to God.
